Open Surgery
OPEN SURGERY IS CURRENTLY PAUSED FOR THE DURATION OF THE CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC IN THE UK
At Woodland Road Surgery we like to make it as easy as possible for our patient to see a GP. To achieve this we operate walk in clinics. However to keep these clinics running we do have a few rules –
- they are ONLY for registered patients
- please try and only bring one problem to each attendance
- you can ask to see a specific Dr if they are available, but if we only have 2 Dr’s on the clinic then we may not allow this
- please understand we can often see up to 50 patients in an open surgery, you will have a wait but you will definitely be seen
- if we only have 2 Dr’s available then we may have to close the list if we get more than 25 patients as it is not possible for 2 Dr’s to see any more than this safely
- patients are seen in order of arrival UNLESS someone is showing symptoms of a potentially serious condition that requires immediate attention
- morning open surgery runs between 8.30am – 10am every weekday, please do not turn up after 10am as you will be asked to come back to the next clinic
- afternoon open surgery runs between 4pm – 6pm but not on Wednesday as this is when the child health clinics are running. The doors are locked at 6pm
We understand that not everyone likes this system however we do also offer appointments that can be booked in advance, although there may be a wait of several days. We have asked our patients several times if they would prefer us to move to an all appointment system and they have always voted overwhelmingly in favour of keeping open surgery.
